Client: Leeds City Council
Principal Contractor: Wates Construction
Scope Of Works: Hard Landscaping
Works Completed: November 2016

Located within close proximity to the busy Leeds city centre Railway Station, the prestigious scheme at Central Square represented a challenging project to all trades involved.  Limited access, tight work areas and the requirement for 24/7 access, whilst working close to pedestrians, residents and local businesses, were all hurdles that had to be overcome.

Cara Construction secured the external package for groundworks and hard landscaping for the external public realm area and internal courtyard.  Having taken note of some of our recent paving works within Leeds city centre, Cara Construction invited us to tender for the paving and associated works.

Following our successful tender, the scope of our works included:

  • 3,200m2 of granite paving
  • 600m of granite paving trim
  • 310m of granite steps
  • 100m2 of granite hazard paving
  • 100m aluminium edging
  • Raised granite planter installation
  • Street furniture installation

Despite the tough site restrictions and several challenges that arose as the project progressed, by working closely with Cara Construction we were able to ensure that the programme remained on track, with the scheme being handed over to Wates Construction in November 2011.
